Both in 5 small groups with five different professors in shady areas of our naturally kept garden, and sometimes all 50 participants speak and philosophize together in ancient Greek, be it with texts by Aristotle, Plato, Euripides or Homer, Epicurus and Aristofanes... .The mind becomes sharper as the unadulterated nature in this garden of the muses lovingly embraces them all and enriches them with the new inspirations that arise and also strengthens the soul and body... Overtones and guitar sounds

Nico Steiner is known as an artist under the name Akampita Steiner. She is a musician, actress, director and author.

Akampita Steiner's performance spaces transform into a spherical sound world in which overtone singing and original compositions for concert guitar and vocals unfold their effect. The musician uses language consciously and never accidentally: in her sound compositions rich in overtones, which sound like the European equivalent of Mongolian throat singing with a horse violin, she invents a spoken language that makes her voice sound like another instrument. "Very impressive! Continue with your creative power, the world needs it more than ever.” Renate Helnwein 12/23

Overtone singing course September 7th - 11th, 2024
When the soul sings

As an expression of deep inner movement, soul, body and music are connected in overtone singing. It is not the person who is supposed to represent something that is asked to sing, but the inner part that wants to take a breath and express itself.

Overtone singing arises from vocal singing. In order to allow these bell and flute-like tones to vibrate above our fundamental tone, it is necessary to experience ourselves as a sound and resonance space. Physical, breathing and vocal exercises support this process, as well as exercises from biodynamic body psychotherapy according to Gerda Boyesen.
The course is suitable for beginners and advanced students and begins with a concert on Saturday evening. From Sunday to Wednesday we work 6 lessons a day. On the last day there is a final singing that we organize together.

Course fee: €250

SOUNDS OF THE SOUL

Werner Schulze: “When I composed the CONCERTO RR-OBERTO-N for bassoon and three overtone musicians in 2007, the musical ideas flowed directly from my soul without any major interposition of rationality. The music film RR-OBERTO-N, made in 2022 with recordings from the Faroe Islands, captures this 'outflow' and even intensifies it. Regarding the ambiguous title: the bassoonist of the recording, made in 2009, is the dedicatee Robert Rönnes (hence ROBERTO), and the inclusion of overtones is expressed in OBERTON."

Sounds of the soul are at the center of the film HEALING SOUNDS, made in 2024, which will be shown for the first time in the Hellenikon Idyllion. Essentially, this film is about what Plato already pointed out in the dialogue “Charmides” (156 e – 157 a):
“Everything, the bad and the good, grows from the soul into the body and the whole person. Therefore, one must first and most carefully care for the soul if the head and the whole body are to be well."
Both films were made by Helmut Schwarz, and the “Harmonik Akademie”, founded by Werner Schulze, together with Helmut Schwarz’s “v.i.c productions” acted as producers. Schwarz and Schulze have a long-standing friendship that has manifested itself in numerous projects, nationally and internationally: from the film tour accompaniment of the European tour of the Indonesian theater-dance-music group “Teater Tetas” to the design of program booklets, from theater and music performances in Romania to complete editions of books.
Helmut Schwarz lives in Eisenstadt. He became the Austrian Filmmakers' State Champion in 2023 and appears with his films at film festivals across Europe.

About the composer:
Werner Schulze lives in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. Studies at the University of Vienna (philosophy, ancient oriental studies) and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (bassoon, harmony) led to a happy coincidence in his professional life: Schulze is an author, musician, composer and scientist and was a university professor until 2014 (head of “International Affairs Harmonics Center” at the “University of Music and Performing Arts” in Vienna). In 1995 he spent a semester as a visiting professor at the “Institut Seni Indonesia” art college in Jogjakarta/Indonesia.
Schulze's compositions include works for orchestra, chamber music, solo and study works as well as music for (mostly his own) poetry and theater texts. Schulze was able to achieve success in 5 composition competitions and received awards and recognition prizes in composition, science and performing arts.

September 12th - 15th, 2024
Biodynamic body work

If you book both courses (overtone singing course - see above) together, you will receive them for a price of €450.

Photo: Roland Rossbacher - This course uses exercises from biodynamic body psychotherapy. These support contact with yourself and self-regulation. Sensing inner impulses is supported by perception exercises. There is space to move and be there. Movements are allowed to ebb and continue to change. Elements from dance and music therapy are incorporated, as is sitting in silence. Self-expression is encouraged in the sense of holisticness. This is about arriving in the present, alone and in a group, in the way that is right for everyone. .
There are 6 lessons every day from Thursday to Sunday. Biodynamic body work was developed by the physiologist and psychologist Gerda Boyesen. Her daughters Ebba and Mona Lisa continued her work in the second generation, with their own priorities.

Course fee: €250

Painting week with freelance artist Miriam Vogt

“People who enjoy differentiated language, play and the unexpected find themselves in my pictures.”

Painting week course 1:
15. April - April 20, 2024
Landscape as a starting point for free painting

We set off with our backpacks packed. The area surrounding the Idyllion offers us motifs and good seats within walking distance. Since it is still early season, the bar owners are looking forward to the first guests. Experience has shown that we were allowed to spread out with our painting supplies anywhere on the still empty tables, so that we will always have a fairly comfortable working environment - including our first coffee by the sea.
We work on paper using mixed media. Because the watercolor box is always easy to handle, it should be there without us pursuing watercolor painting in the true sense.
Being inspired by nature and enriching your own design language is always the idea when you work outside. In addition, our perspective is sharpened and expanded through different perspectives/restrictions. How far the work moves away from the motif will perhaps be decided in the evening when we go to the orange garden!!! discuss the works again.

Painting week course 2:
22. April - April 27, 2024
Conceptions of landscape

The following week is aimed at participants with good painting basics. The introduction and the different understandings of landscape will be brief. Then it's about finding my own drive, my own language, my own material in which I deal with the topic of landscape. Questions could be: what is the meaning of perspective? Do I set a horizon or not……do I look far away or close? Which color theme am I interested in? What statement does landscape make in shades of red etc.
It is an advantage if you know each other a little and know e.g. B. I always wanted to work on the canvas with needle and thread……or I imagine integrating sand into my work.
Equipping yourself accordingly and packing your own material backpack in addition to the watercolor paints supports a good, inspired process.
In the evening there will also be a round table discussion with picture viewing in the orange garden.

ORGANIZATIONAL: All course participants receive a packing list and should have a painting backpack that you can quickly throw on your back as well as a painting folder with a handle so that you can move around easily and change places easily. (The paths are never far.) We can have breakfast together in the Idyllion - in the orange garden -, take provisions with us (you can shop in the village) and in the evening we look forward to Till, who always treated us to very affordable Greek cuisine in his wonderful little restaurant 100m from the Idyllion, right on the beach Beach.
