Call for an international competition to promote ancient Greek language and classical philosophy

Invitation

Dear Madam or Sir,

Hellenikon Idyllion is for several years known as an international meeting point for cultural exchange in music, drama, literature and art.

In order to our ancient Greek competition Agon Aretesin 2005, the international contest of composing a libretto for the opera Helike Athanatos in 2010 as well as the ancient Greek one Agon Armonias in 2012, we are more than happy to be able to announce herewith a new competition for 2016.
The fundamental idea behind this project is to catch young peoples interest for the property of the ancient Greek language and the philosophical way of thinking.

This competition is designed for pupils (from age 13) and students (up to the age of 28) who are meant to work together in groups of two or three.
For participating it is not necessary that each member of the group is learning ancient Greek at the moment or has already learned it, but it is requiered that at least one holds basic knowlege. Essential for taking part in the contest is to show up the creative interest focused on this topic.

It is up to every group to choose the form of their contribution: a short play, an image film, or any other illustrative product with their comments included. It is up to everyone to let their artistic imagination run free. There is no restriction.

Task 2

The group members should describe their ideas about an advertisement campaign to demonstrate the benefits of learning ancient Greek (ca. 1/2 page)
The aim is to investigate conceptions to promote the study of ancient Greek by the younger generation and to think about possibilities to provide direct access to the riches of the written cultural heritage of the ancient Greek world for young people.

Task 3
